How-To Make Your Fall Frames:
Step 1: Print Your Free Fall Printables

Step 2: Cut, Trace, and Glue
Once you’ve printed your printables, go ahead and cut them out.
Then, trace those cut-out prints on a piece of foam board.
Next, cut the traced foam board piece out. You can use a sharp pair of scissors or even a box cutter.
After that, simply glue your printable onto the foam board.
Tips:
- Keep your glue to the corners or edges of the foam board to avoid seeing that “wet” look that glue sometimes does to paper. I tried to keep my glue under where I knew the wooden pieces would be.
- I used Tacky Glue, but any glue will work. Just make sure it’s completely dry before step 4.

Step 3: Paint/Stain Wood Pieces
Now it’s time to paint or stain your wood pieces. You could also do this step at the very beginning to avoid having to wait for dry time.
For your 4×6 frames, you will need 10 wood pieces from the wooden tower game. The 5×7 frames will need 12 wooden pieces to make the frame. If you are making all 4 frames with each of the free fall printables, then you will be using a total of 44 wooden pieces (each box has only 36 pieces, which is why you will need 2 boxes).
I stained my wood pieces for one of my frames and used different colored acrylic paints for the remaining 3 frames.
Two coats of acrylic paint works great (plus it’s cheap and dries really fast), but chalk paint or spray paint would also work really well.
Step 4: Arrange and Glue
Once your 2 coats of paint are dry, arrange your wooden pieces on top of the very edge of the foam board/print. Move them around to find the arrangement you like before you start to glue.
Pick up each piece, put a little glue on the paper and the end of the wooden piece, and put it back in it’s spot. This ensures that the wooden pieces are not only glued to the foam board, but also to it’s neighboring block. Make sense?
Continue until all the blocks are glued in place!
I do recommend a strong glue for this step. Tacky Glue is great, and it’s only $1 at Dollar Tree. Woo-hoo!
