Does anyone else feel like this has been a really long week? All day yesterday I kept thinking it was Friday…which means I thought today was going to be the weekend! Why would a stay at home mom care what day of the week it is, you ask? Well, because the weekdays can get reallllly long (and sometimes lonely) so I really look forward to the weekends when we are all together as a family. Plus, my week has kind of been like this:
Bahahaha! I’m sorry…I can’t help it! This is probably the funniest and most accurate meme I’ve seen in a while! My cousin sent it to me last week, and I thought I was going to die!
I just have 2 Friday Faves today (3 if you include that meme ^^^), starting with my favorite…free stuff!
1. Kroger’s Free Friday
If you’re not already aware of Kroger’s Free Friday item….prepare to get excited! Every Friday, Kroger features an item that they give away…totally for free.
Here’s how it works:
- You have to have a Kroger card. If you don’t already have one, it’s free to get one at any Kroger register. It’s not a credit card…just a store card that you can use for discounts and stuff.
- Download the Kroger app on your phone.
- Once you download the app, you’ll need to add your Kroger card number so it’s connected to your account.
- Every Friday, open your Kroger app and go to the “coupons” tab.
- Type in “free Friday” in the search box, and the featured item for that day will pop up.
- Once you see it, you’ll need to click “load to card” so it’ll be associated with your Kroger card.
Since the digital coupon is now loaded to your Kroger card, all you have to do is go to your local Kroger and get the Free Friday item (there’s usually a kiosk set up). When you scan the Free Friday item, it will show up as regular price….but then you scan your Kroger card (because remember…you’ve “loaded” that digital coupon to your card through the app) and the price goes down to $0!
And the items they have are usually pretty decent….like full sized items, valued at up to $5! Here are a few things they’ve had on Free Friday in the last several weeks:
It’s super exciting getting free stuff! Chase and I each have our own Kroger card, so we each load the coupon to our cards and go in to get our own Free Friday item. Then we have 2 for our house! Some people might call that cheating the system…but I call it taking advantage of a good deal!
One more thing…Friday is the only day you can load the coupon to your card, but you have up to 2 weeks to actually go to the store and get it. So today, Kroger’s Free Friday item is a 5 oz. bag of Haribo Gummi Candy. Today is the only day I can load the coupon to my card, but if I don’t make it to Kroger today, I can go anytime in the next two weeks and still get it for free.
Even if you don’t like gummy bears, don’t be discouraged! Next Friday there will be something new.
2. New Girl
I absolutely love getting caught up in a great TV series. I could definitely be described as a Netflix binge-watcher, and I’m not even going to try to hide it.
Right now my current fave is New Girl! I’m actually watching it through for the second time…ha! Has anybody else watched it?? It’s so funny!
My brother-in-law is the one that suggested it to me, and I have to give the same advice he gave me: you have to give it a few episodes. When I first started watching it, I thought nothing could compare to the hilarity of How I Met Your Mother, so I was kind of close minded at first. Now that I’m watching it for the second time, I don’t understand why I was standoffish at all!
Here’s the basic background to the show: A girl (Jess) breaks up with her boyfriend and needs a new place to live, and she ends up renting a room in an apartment with 3 other guys. Each of the characters are developed so well, and are all hilarious! I think one of the reasons I love it so much is because I see some of my characteristics in the main character…she’s kind of weird, she sings everything that she’s doing (which I’ve been known to do a few times…), and she really just wants everyone to get along!
It’s on Netflix, and the episodes are only 22 minutes long. Which makes it really easy to watch just a couple of episodes without feeling like you’re wasting the whole day/night. Oooooor….it makes it really easy to watch an entire season in one all-nighter because the episodes are so short. Not that that’s happened to me. Just someone I know…
I would say this is a PG-13 show. You probably wouldn’t want to watch it as a family. There isn’t really any bad language, but there’s some stuff that’s inappropriate for kids.
Does anyone else watch (and love) New Girl? What are your favorite shows to binge on…I’m always looking for new ones!
